Hello all polar bear girls! As you may know my girlfriend Giovanna is leaving me soon because her new enclosure is ready now. Why am I writing to you? Well, a young bear boy needs a YOUNG girlfriend. I’m going to be moved to the bigger enclosure where my aunties Nancy and Katjuscha live. My mother Tosca will be going to the Tierpark – at least this is what I’ve heard from reasonably reliable sources.
I love my aunties but let’s face it – they are too old. Ooooops, I hope they don’t see that…. I mean, of course, that these ladies at their best age are too old for me.
Even if I’m a world famous bear there might be someone who hasn’t heard of me so let me introduce myself:
I’m a cute polar bear who will be 4 years old in December. Everybody says I’m quite a looker and, of course, they’re right! They also say I’m a very kind and gentle bear. Well, I’m that, too, but I’m not afraid to give a piece of mind if I find it necessary. If the keepers are late with my dinner I simply must let them know how I feel about that!
My hobbies are sports and gardening – besides eating and napping. Did you know that there are lots of visitors who want to play ball with me. Sometimes I feel pity of them and throw my ball to them. For some reason they don’t start playing with it but always throw it back to me. These human things are often so funny!
I want to keep my enclosure clean and tidy. That’s why I’m always supervising my personnel so things will be done properly. They’ve been told to leave my garden to me – I know exactly where I want my plants. One might say I have green paws, hihiii…..
A cute bear has to take care of his looks so I’m very particular about my hygiene. I bathe often in my pool, I make a pawicure daily and …..I brush my teeth with salmon! I might add that makes me irresistable for the ladies so I hope you’re not a jealous kind of girl.
What can I offer you besides the gorgeous myself? Well, the enclosure in Bärlin aren’t big but I’ve always found my home very cosy. The keepers take good care of their bears and we also have fans who raise money during their meetings and then Aunt Gudrun comes with the ‘Bollerwagen’ to Bärenhof. Doesn’t that sound tempting??
What do I expect from you? Gentlebears love blondies and my ideal lady is white, fluffy and roundish. Well, don’t take that ‘white’ too litterally….I sometimes change the colour of my fur. The visitors call the colour black but I prefer to call it off-white.
There are a couple of things I expect my future bride to bear in mind. I won’t accept to be disturbed while I’m eating. I also take for granted I can have my ‘nickerchens’ without any interruptions! On the other hand – I can offer you a very healthy menu, you can eat as much yammy lettuce as you want…. and carrots and apples…..Isn’t that kind of stuff a girl thing or what?

WANTED: Eisbärmädchen im geeigneten Alter
Hallo an alle Eisbärenmädchen. Wie Ihr wahrscheinlich wisst, wird meine Freundin Giovanna mich bald verlassen, weil ihr Gehege fertig ist. Warum ich Euch schreibe? Nun, ein junger Eisbär braucht eine JUNGE Freundin. Ich werde in das größere Gehege, wo auch meine Tanten Nancy und Katjuscha wohnen, umziehen. Meine Mutter Tosca wird in den Tierpark umziehen – so heißt es zumindest aus zuverlässiger Quelle.
Ich mag meine Tanten, aber Tatsache ist – sie sind zu alt. Ooooops. Ich hoffe, Ihr versteht…. Ich meine natürlich, diese Ladies im besten Alter sind zu alt für mich.
Auch wenn ich ein weltberühmter Bär bin, gibt es vielleicht die Eine oder Andere, die noch nicht von mir gehört hat; deshalb stelle ich mich hier vor:.
Ich bin ein netter Eisbär, der im Dezember 4 Jahre alt wird. Jeder sagt, ich sehe gut aus, und damit hat man recht! Man sagt auch, ich sei ein sehr freundlicher und sanfter Bär. Ja, genau das bin ich, aber ich scheue mich nicht, anderen auch meine Meinung zu sagen, wenn es erforderlich ist. Wenn die Pfleger mit meinem Abendessen zu spät kommen, muss ich ihnen nur sagen, was ich darüber denke!
Meine Hobbies sind Sport und Gärtnern – neben Essen und Schlafen. Wusstet Ihr, dass es viele Besucher gibt, die Ball mit mir spielen möchten? Manchmal habe ich Mitleid mit ihnen und werfe ihnen den Ball zu. Aus irgendeinem Grund spielen sie nicht mit dem Ball, sie werfen ihn immer zu mir zurück. Diese menschlichen Dinge sind manchmal schon witzig!
Ich möchte mein Gehege sauber und aufgeräumt haben. Deshalb beaufsichtige ich auch mein Personal, damit alles richtig gemacht wird. Ihnen wurde gesagt, sie sollen mir den Garten überlassen – ich weiß genau, wohin ich meine Pflanzen haben möchte. Man kann sagen, ich habe grüne Tatzen, hihihi …..
Ein gutaussehender Bär achtet auch auf sein Aussehen und ich bin sehr bedacht auf meine Hygiene. Ich bade oft in meinem Pool, ich mache täglich meine Tatzenküre und …. Ich putze meine Zähne mit Lachs! Ich möchte anmerken, dass mich das für die Damenwelt unwiderstehlich macht, deshalb hoffe ich, dass Ihr nicht zu der eifersüchtigen Art gehört.
Was kann ich außer meinem schönen Aussehen anbieten? Nun, das Gehege in Bärlin ist nicht sehr groß, aber ich habe mein Heim immer als sehr gemütlich empfunden. Die Pfleger kümmern sich gut um ihre Bären und wir haben Freunde, die während ihrer Treffen Geld zusammenlegen, und dann kommt Tante Gudrun mit dem Bollerwagen zum Bärenhof. Klingt das nicht verlockend??
Was erwarte ich? Zärtliche Bären lieben blond und meine ideale Lady ist weiß, flauschig und rundlich. Nun, nehmt das „weiß” nicht allzu wörtlich …. Ich ändere meine Pelzfarbe manchmal. Die Besucher nennen die Farbe schwarz aber ich bevorzuge, diese Farbe off-white zu nennen.
Da gibt es noch ein paar Dinge, die ich von meiner zukünftigen Braut erwarte. Ich akzeptiere es nicht, wenn man mich beim Essen stört. Ich setze auch voraus, dass ich meine Nickerchen ohne Unterbrechung haben kann! Auf der anderen Seite – kann ich ein sehr gesundes Menue anbieten, man kann so viel yammy Salat essen wie man möchte…. und Möhren und Äpfel…… das isst doch etwas für Mädchen, oder?

Ich glaube es hat nur Sinn, für Knut eine Freundin zu suche, wenn es auch ein ordentliches Gehege für die Beiden gäbe. Oder Knut muß auf Reise gehen zu einer hübschen, jungen Dame mit tollem Gehege!
Dieses rumgeschiebe von anderen Bären, nur damit Knut in Berlin bleiben kann, finde ich nicht schön.
Besonders leid tut es mir um Tosca – Lars mußte ja schon gehen. Die tolle Viererbande ist Geschichte – alles sehr schade! Auch auch auf die Gefahr hin, mich in die Nesseln zu setzen, mußte ich das einfach mal los werden. Knut könnte heute in Orsa oder Gelsenkirchen sein und ein feines Leben haben mit einer jungen Eisbärin, wenn gewisse Personen das nicht verhindert hätten. Sorry, aber so isses!

It is serendipitous that both you and Papa Lars are in a same search at the same time. I hope there will be no competition on that horizon, but you have youth, good looks and a come-hither bear personality, whereas Papa Lars may be on zoo-set priorities.
Pip pip, cheerio, My Boy, if hanging with the aunties while you answer emails is your lot in life for a (hopefully) short time, I think you may have to, how they say, ‘make lemonade from lemons.’ I must say that all those pawicures have paid off ~ you have bear-ly nails that make me envious.
