International Husbandry Conference Proceedings

Held February 2004, in San Diego, California, the IHC was an extraordinary experiment devised by PBI—bringing together polar bear experts from the ranks of wildlife conservation and management with polar bear experts from zoos throughout the world.

In the past, these experts had little to do with the other side. But as a result of this unprecedented event, many have now built collaborative relationships that are having far-reaching significance for both wild and zoo-based polar bears.
